Our mission
To eliminate chaotic physical queues, reduce human ordering errors, and ease acute manpower pressures on stall operators.
Every school day between 12:00 PM and 12:45 PM, the ITE College West Main Canteen reaches its busiest point. With a traditional manual setup, that means heavy time loss, orders that come out wrong and walkways crowded with queues, all within a short recess.
RealMeal is our answer: a centralised, self-service digital ordering and virtual queue system modelled after the modern Bukit Canberra Canopy network. Instead of a separate line at every stall, the whole canteen works as one unified system.
I am Hamizah Binte M Jaffri, a student from class QE2601B at ITE College West, and RealMeal is my campus innovation project for the academic semester ending in November 2026.
Our goal
Maximise limited break times for students and staff, so lunch is about food and friends, not the queue.

Every minute spent queueing is a minute less for lunch.
Peak hour, 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM, at a busy campus canteen.
Separate queues at every stall eat into a short recess, leaving little time to sit down and eat.
Calling out orders over a noisy crowd leads to wrong dishes, missed requests and wasted food.
Lines spill out from the counters during peak slots, making the canteen hard to move through.
Stall operators juggle cooking, taking orders and handling cash all at once during the rush.
A 5W + 1H analysis looked at who uses the canteen, when it peaks and why the manual system struggles.
A sitemap and wireframes planned the site around one user flow: browse, select, pay, receive QR, track and collect.
Touchscreen kiosks, a companion web app and a Kitchen Display System for vendors, working as one platform.
User acceptance testing showed how RealMeal makes ordering faster, clearer and easier.

To eliminate chaotic physical queues, reduce human ordering errors, and ease acute manpower pressures on stall operators.
A fully digital ITE canteen where every stall works as one, peak-hour congestion is a thing of the past, and break times are spent eating, not queueing.
Move every step, from browsing to collection, onto kiosks and phones.
Spread the 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM rush with one virtual queue.
PayNow and student cards, with student financial aid built in.
A Kitchen Display System that keeps every stall in sync.
Built for everyone who eats at, or works in, the ITE College West Main Canteen.
Full-time and part-time students who want more of their short recess back.
Lecturers and campus staff who share the same canteen and the same tight schedules.
Vendors who receive organised digital orders through the Kitchen Display System.
Key stakeholders: canteen stall operators, ITE estate and school administration, financial assistance departments and campus IT infrastructure teams.
